DRI probing CISF sleuths role in airport gold smuggling

Hydearbad:  Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) sleuths are probing the role of two Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel deployed at the Hyderabad airport in an international gold smuggling racket busted by cops recently.

On November 4, Task Force sleuths of Hyderabad busted a international gold smuggling racket and arrested four persons, including Zafar Ahmed, 28, of Azampura, Syed Wajeed, 25, of Dewan Devdi, Arif Ali Shaik, 40, Airport representative of Western Hotel, Md Taheruddin alias Asif, 24, of Old Malakpet and seized 4.19 kg gold and Rs 16 lakh worth foreign currency from their possession.

City police then handed over the accused along with the seized property to DRI sleuths. During the interrogation, the accused confessed that they have received the gold from a man wearing a T shirt at the airport parking lot.
