2016 will be year of consolidation for Air India: Lohani

New Delhi: Ashwani Lohani, Chairman & MD, Air India Ltd has said that the national carrier will open new routes domestically and overseas by taking advantage of the new Aviation Policy of the government. He was speaking at an event organised to mark the introduction of Air India’s non-stop flight between Delhi and San Francisco starting from December 2 here in Delhi. Terming the move as “the beginning of a resurgent Air India”, Lohani said that 2016 will be a year of “consolidation” for the flag carrier

Appreciating Air India and its new team, Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Minister for Civil Aviation, Government of India, said that Air India has done the country proud in recent years for its role in massive evacuation efforts in conflict zones of Libya and Yemen. Whenever Air India worked as a team, it could deliver results, the Minister said. The launch of international routes like San Francisco is the result of team work, he said. There has been commendable improvement in India-US relationship in recent years. Growing economic and tourism activity would help Air India open more international routes, he said.

RN Choubey, Secretary-Aviation, Government of India, said that there has been “certain vibrancy” in Air India since the new team took over.
