AI flight aborted over windshield crack

LUCKNOW: Around 150 passengers in a Lucknow-bound Air India flight from New Delhi had a narrow escape after the windshield of the cockpit developed a crack mid-air on Sunday.

According to reports, the flight AI 411 had taken off from IGI airport at around 7.15 am on Sunday. The aircraft was ascending when the pilot noticed a crack in the windshield. Sources said the pilot immediately informed the ATC and decided to head back to New Delhi. It was only after the aircraft landed back at the Delhi airport that the passengers came to know as to what had actually happened. Air India officials in Lucknow confirmed that the flight had to be aborted following a crack in the windshield. AI terminal manager in Lucknow, Sujit Kumar, said that passengers arrived by another AI flight.
