An action committee of residents facing eviction from areas identified for acquisition for extending the runway of the Kannur airport coming up at Mattannur has alleged that the authorities are not transparent about the process.
The action committee of residents of Kallerikkara and Parappyil areas said on Monday that 26 families in the areas were proposed to be rehabilitated for the acquisition. It alleged that the authorities were not disclosing the details about the proposed acquisition. Though the residents had been shown at a recent meeting convened by District Collector P. Bala Kiran a sketch of the area identified for the acquisition, the authorities had not informed them of the ways in which the land would be taken over.
