AHMEDABAD: The onset of winter, marriage season, festivals and several national level seminars and conclaves in the last few weeks ensured a steady flow of foreign tourists in the city. Ahmedabad airport saw a jump of 241% in number of foreign tourists' arrival on e-tourist visa in just three months.
Just after the system was introduced at the city airport, around 228 tourists arrived in the city through e-tourist visa in September and the numbers jumped to 560 in October and 777 in November.
In November, 777 tourists arrived at the city airport and availed e-tourist visa. Maximum arrival of tourists on e-tourist visa was from the US and UK followed by Russia, France, Germany, Australia and Canada among others.
Interestingly, other airports which got e-tourist visa service approval along with Ahmedabad received hardly any tourist in November availing this service.
During November 2015, a total of 83,501 tourists arrived on e-tourist visa across 16 airports in the country as compared to 2,968 during November 2014, registering a growth of 2,713.4%.
