IGI gears up for foggy days

New Delhi: With flight operations touching a new peak, IGI airport is gearing up to tackle the dense fog that's expected in the coming weeks.

While the Met department is replacing the old runway visual range (RVR) devices, airport officials said they are ready to deal with overcrowding of terminals. Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), and Airport Authority of India (AAI) have also responded to the changing weather ensuring all possible precautionary measures.

BCAS recently held meetings with airlines, airport officials and security agencies to check their preparations to fly during the foggy days expected ahead.

According to officials, Directorate General of Civil Aviation has asked airlines to provide them detailed information about their flight frequency, number of available pilots and crew members, and preparations to deal with flight delays and rescheduling.
