RUNWAY SCARE

A round 100 passengers on board a flight from Delhi had a nasty scare when the plane, landing at the Ahmedabad Airport, lurched violently on the runway. The pilot apparently had to apply brakes to avoid hitting a dog which had strayed on to the runway. The aircraft, a Boeing-738 with twin engines, was travelling at an approximate speed of over 100 kmph when the sudden brake was applied, airport sources said. The incident took place on Saturday night. A passenger on board the flight SpiceJet SG 193 (Delhi- Ahmedabad) said the flight touched ground and then jerked violently.

"It was unusual and scary. After reaching the parking bay, the pilot apologised to the passengers on the inflight intercom. He nnounced that there was a dog on the runway, and he had to apply the sudden brakes to avoid hitting the animal," said Ravi Jani, 37, a bank manager who was travelling on the flight. Another passenger, 55-yearold PV Jadeja described the landing as "bumpy and absolutely scary". Jadeja, who was returning with a few friends after a trip to Vaishnodevi, said, "When the aircraft lurched, we had our hearts in our mouths.
