Seventeen plane tyre burst reported in three years: Govt

As many as 17 incidents of tyre burst have been reported by different domestic airlines between year 2012 and October 30 this year, with seven of them reported by the national carrier Air India and its subsidiary Alliance Air, government said today.

During the last three years and current year (till October 30), a total of 17 incidents of tyre burst involving various airlines including Air India have been reported, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma informed Rajya Sabha.

The number of tyre burst incidents in 2012 stood at three, while four such incidents were reported in 2013, he said.

According to Sharma, a total of seven tyre burst incidents were reported by various airlines in 2014 while this year till October 30, the number of such incidents stood at three.

Of the 17 incidents, Air India along with its subsidiary Alliance Air reported a total of seven.

During this period, budget carrier SpiceJet reported five such incidents during the period between 2012 and October 30, 2015, Sharma said.
