Airline cancels flights to Varanasi, stranded passengers protest at Mumbai airport

Mumnbai: IndiGo passengers to Varanasi protested at Mumbai airport on Tuesday, after the airline cancelled two flights citing poor visibility.
The passengers were peeved that instead of making alternative arrangements to fly them to Varanasi, IndiGo asked them to get a refund. "I don't want a refund. I want to fly today, I need to attend an RSS meeting in Benares," said advocate AK Sayani, an aggrieved passenger. "We enquired at Varanasi and found that other airlines have landed."
An IndiGo spokesperson said they were forced to cancel the flights due to a sudden drop in visibility level at Varanasi airp-ort. "Fifty-five passengers from flight 6E 176 scheduled to depart at 1.15pm were requested to dise-mbark the aircraft, while 170 pa-ssengers and a infant awaiting boarding on flight 6E 712 scheduled to depart at 2.10pm were informed of the situation," the IndiGo statement said, adding that weather conditions were not likely to improve on Wednesday and it would inform passengers about flight status.
