Assault on AI staffer: YSRC MP hits back at govt

Nellore: The YSRC MP Peddireddy Mithun Reddy from Rajampet in Kadapa district, an accused in a case of assault on Air India staffer S. Rajasekhar at the airport at Renigunta in Chittor district, on Friday described his arrest as a ploy of the government to intimidate the opposition parties.
The 38-year old MP, his party MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy from Chandragiri and party leader Biyyapu Madhusudhan Reddy in Chittoor district, arrested in the assault case reported on November 26 last, were released on a condition bail on Thursday after having been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days. Addressing a media conference along with Bhaskar Reddy in this connection, Mithun refuted the charge of assault. The YSRC leader demanded that the government make public video footages, if any, showing his involvement in the assault and substantiate its charge.

The MP said he only pulled up the staffer for his alleged misbehaviour with him while entering the lounges. The issue subsided after the staffer tendered an unconditional apology. But he lodged a complaint with the Srikalahasti police next day only at the instance of the ruling party. It is nothing but unleashing political vendetta against the YSRC for the latter playing opposition in a true spirit by exposing government's misdeeds, he alleged.
