Beef up security of Pak airlines offices, MEA tells Delhi Police

New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) today asked the Delhi Police to strengthen security around the offices of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). Yesterday, people belonging to a right-wing group vandalised the offices of the PIA, making the already strained relationship more tense.
“MEA has directed the police to beef up security around the PIA office,” the official spokesperson of the MEA said today.
In Islamabad, the Pakistan Foreign Office issued a statement asking the MEA to step up security around PIA offices.
“The PIA office in New Delhi was ransacked by a group of extremists. They caused damage to the property and also harassed and threatened the PIA staff.
“The Pakistan High Commission immediately took up the matter with the Ministry of External Affairs, asking them to provide adequate security to the PIA offices in New Delhi and Mumbai, as well as to take action against the miscreants,” said the statement.
