Chennai airport to get a travelator as part of expansion plan

Chennai: Years after it was originally planned, a travelator may finally come up at the Chennai airport as part of the phase II expansion.

Airport director Deepak Shastri said, “The travelator will connect the terminals with each other, provide connectivity to the terminals from the Metro Rail station on the Chennai airport premises and also to the multi-level car park on the premises. This will help passengers commute easily within the airport.”

Every day, there are at least 30,000 passengers travelling through the airport; passengers have complained on various occasions that the lack of this facility had put them to major inconvenience.
