Trichy: The new civil aviation policy which is under formulation will make the Indian skies more vibrant by promoting regional connectivity, union minister for civil aviation Ashok Gajapathi Raju has said. The minister is here for two days to audit and review the progress of Trichy International airport.
The minister visited the airport and discussed with officials various issues including the status on the land acquisition which is required for extending the runway, bilateral air service agreement (BASA) revival and assured that the centre and state will work together for developing the airport.
According to Gajapati Raju, during a recent meeting it was decided that even unconnected areas will be included in the aviation policy. The airport authorities gave a detailed presentation on issues hindering the progress of the airport.
