Aurangabad: The region's industry body on Saturday was effusively enthusiastic after chief minister Devendra Fadnavis' annouced that the city airport will be expanded after acquisition of land.
The proposed move will increase the length of the airstrip. "We have been pursuing the matter with the chief minister as well as industries minister Subhash Desai for quite some time, so that international flights can land at Aurangabad and International Air Cargo movement is possible from the city," said Ashish Garde, CMIA president.
The CMIA has passed a resolution, which, among other pointers, calls for fast action on clearing the proposal of land acquisition and for arranging the required funds of Rs.200 crores through MIDC, he said.
"With the process of airstrip expansion now on a fast forward mode, CMIA has also requested for the chief minister's intervention for improving the air connectivity of Aurangabad for domestic as well as international destinations," Garde said.
