Even as a red alert has been sounded in the Capital ahead of Republic Day, Delhi police has come up with a new initiative titled "Be Aware-Travel Safe" to enhance security at Indira Gandhi International Airport. The police said during the initiative “Be Aware - Travel safe” pamphlets and posters will be displayed at the prominent places at the international and domestic airports to spread awareness among passengers and tourists for their safety and security in Delhi. The pamphlets give different helpline numbers and mobile applications which travellers can use if they are in some sort of problem.
"Several lakhs of people including foreign nationals arrive in Delhi everyday. It is our duty to make every person feel safe and secure when they arrive in the Capital," police said adding that this initiative is also focusing on women's safety.
The stickers will be pasted behind the front seat of cabs so that tourists/passengers can get access to the information and facilities accorded by Delhi Police.
