Elephant strays near Air Force airstrip in Purnea

Patna: An elephant entered Purnea’s Chunapatti Air Force airbase by breaking through its boundary wall on Friday, sending the district forest department and the local administration into a tizzy. The elephant strayed into Araria, near Purnea, from Nepal four days ago, police said.
The airbase is used for take-off and landing by the Air Force and special flights. The administration and local residents had not managed to drive out the elephant by Friday evening.
The district forest department said it suspected that the same elephant killed a 15-year-old boy in Araria on Thursday.
