Mumbai: The Pathankot attacks have put airports across the country, including Mumbai, on high alert in the last four days. Though security is usually tightened in the weeks preceeding the Republic Day celebrations, the Pathankot attacks have forced security agencies to adopt additional security measures early in the month.
Random secondary ladder point checks are being carried out on the airside, said an airport source adding that security was beefed up following an alert from the ministry of home affairs and Bureau of Civil Aviation Security on Sunday. In preparation for Republic Day, armed quick reaction teams of Central Industrial Security Force commandos have been positioned at vantage points around the airport terminals.
