Nawanshahr: Claiming that the recent lathicharge done by Police in Mohali has failed to dampen the spirits of Punjab Youth Congress (PYC) and its activists are determined to push the demand for naming Chandigarh international airport after martyr Bhagat Singh, Punjab Youth Congress president Amarpreet Singh Lally has said that now they would seek support of all Gram Panchayats across Punjab through a signature campaign. This initiative will take off from the native village, Khatkarkalan of Bhagat Singh soon.
"There was overwhelming response to the 115 kms. long Padyatra we took to raise the demand for naming of Chandigarh airport after the martyr and there was very strong sentiment that there should be no delay in naming the airport after the martyr," said Lally. "SAD-BJP alliance has exposed its insensitivity towards the issue when the Poilce tried to curb our movement by brutally beating us. This cannot stop us from voicing our concern over the issue. We will run a signature campaign where we would garner the support of all Panchayts in Punjab. Their opinion will be sought after and their signatures will be taken if they support the movement. They are also free to sign if they are against it. The final report will be sent to the President of India", PYC president informed.
