Saudi national arrested in India for ‘illegally’ using satellite phone

Riyadh: The Indian authorities detained a Saudi national from Kochi Airport on Thursday for using satellite phone, instead of a cell one.

The 38-old Saudi national who paid a three-week-long visit to India was arrested as he was preparing to return home, reported Arabic daily Sabq.

According to Nedumbassery CI Murali M K, Al Fahad Sultan was detained by the CISF after a satellite phone was found in his possession, which is banned in India, reported English daily Indian Express.

“He has been staying in the country for the past 21 days. A case has been registered against him under Sections-4 and 20 of the Indian Telegraph Act. He will be presented before the court on Friday,” added the CI.
