Vadodara airport's ground handling staff issue reaches HC

The issue of outsourcing ground handling staff for private airlines has reached Gujarat high court after the Vadodara airport issued notice to airlines to keep its own staff for ground handling of aircrafts and not to rely by outsourcing the service from January 1.
In response to a notice issued to airlines to keep their own staff for ground handling, the Federation of Indian Airlines filed a petition in the HC questioning the legality of the decision. Senior counsel Sudhir Nanavati said that the provisions in the Airport Authority of India Act say that airlines have to keep their own ground handling staff on major airports across the country, but small airports where less number of flights land are not required to follow this norm.
The Vadodara airport's director gave ultimatum to the airlines to keep their own staff for ground handling of aircrafts or else their permit would be terminated. This could have ended operation of four airlines in Vadodara from Friday.
