2 held with 1.2-kg gold at Amritsar airport

Amritsar: The Customs authorities today arrested two Patiala residents for allegedly smuggling gold from Dubai. Ten gold biscuits (weighing 1,166 gm) valued at Rs33.23 lakh were seized.
Gurdhian Singh of Patak Colony, Patiala, was arrested on his arrival at Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport. He had concealed the gold in his rectum.
His aide Jaskirat Singh who had come to take the consignment was also nabbed. He was repeatedly calling Gurdhian while the latter was being interrogated. Both were later released on bail.
