Passengers protested at the airport after they noticed that their flight, which had been cancelled, was quickly rescheduled to fly to another destination. At least six passengers had boarded the Air India flight to Goa when it was announced that the flight had been cancelled due to a technical problem. Once they alighted, they noticed that the same aircraft was designated to fly to Nagpur.
Angry travellers then confronted the onduty manager, demanding to know if an airline could offload passengers from a flight that was already being boarded and reschedule it for another destination.
They alleged that the manager made some inquiries and told them that the instruction to change the destination of the aircraft came from Delhi, which sparked doubts among the passengers that this was done to accommodate a VIP.
