Flyers keen to get updates on flight status, seats: Study

Mumbai: whether or not they serve food or not, an airline that feeds its passengers information on flights from time to time, it seems, would find a landing spot in the flyer's heart.
Getting information on their flight status, the seats they have been assigned to, the baggage delivery waiting time is what passengers are keen to know, revealed the findings of a survey carried out by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
"Passengers want to know and be up to date on everything related to their flight. The top three proactive notification choices they opted for were flight status (93%), baggage status and delivery waiting time (74%) and regulations involving visa, Customs, health (68%),'' said the recently released survey.
The findings covered the preferences of travellers from the point of travel browsing and ticket purchase onto the start of their journey at a departure airport till the point they collect their bags at their destination, said a release issued by IATA, adding that the survey covered around 7,300 passengers from 140 countries, who had travelled in the past one year. IATA is a trade association that represents 260 airlines, who operate about 83% of the global air traffic.
