HHRC issues notice to airlines

Chandigarh: Haryana Human Rights Commission (HHRC) has taken a suo motu notice of enhancing the airlines rates flying on air routes of Delhi-Chandigarh-Amritsar and a notice dated March 8 has been issued to the Secretary, Civil Aviation, Union Ministry, Director General Civil Aviation ad Managing Director of airlines i.e. Air India, Jet airways, Spice Jet, Indigo to submit their detailed report.

The orders issued by the HHRC on Tuesday stated, “In this hour of human misery and difficulty, the State cannot abdicate the responsibility in not assisting and supporting the citizens against unscrupulous trade practices by these airlines.

In past, Government has assisted Indian citizens in times of crisis in airlifting the citizens from foreign  land to India from different parts of the world. Notice for March 8 is being issued to the Managing Directors of the Airlines i.e. Air India, Jet airways, Spice Jet, Indigo with specific directions to these airlines to disclose the prices that they have charged over and above the reasonable fare from the passengers during the period of chaos and road blockage in Haryana.”
