Jet our number one equity partner, says Etihad as India traffic grows

New Delhi: Aviation giants of the UAE accept that Indians are the biggest source of traffic for two of its biggest airlines — Emirates and Etihad.
Etihad, UAE's national carrier which has a 24% stake in Jet Airways, on Tuesday said "India is Abu Dhabi's number one source market for international visitors." Jet and Etihad together carried a record 3.3 million passengers between Etihad's Abu Dhabi hub and India in 2015. It announced a 63% increase in full-year passenger traffic with Jet Airways to and from India.
A few days back, Dubai Airports had said that "India retained its position as Dubai's single largest destination country in 2015 with 1,03,91,376 passengers, a year on year growth of 17% compared to 89,08,362 in 2014. The UK was placed second, followed closely by Saudi Arabia. In terms of destination cities served by Dubai, Doha retained the top spot, followed closely by London and Mumbai with 22,14,221 passengers."
Etihad on Tuesday showed how its partnership with Jet has paid off. The combined networks of Etihad and Jet offer over 250 weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and 15 cities across India. They together offer over 44,000 seats each week between Abu Dhabi and India.
