Now, airport check-ins to be faster

Ahmedabad: Flight passengers can soon expect shortening of queues in front of baggage scanners as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) is set to receive six more baggage scanners within next four months, said airport officials. The good news doesn't end there, but passengers can also expect quicker boarding as two more aerobridges will be installed within the same time frame.
In wake of the Pathankot terror attack, airport security checks have intensified resulting in longer queues. Recently, during the annual airport advisory meeting (AAM) with the airport director, collector and other senior officials of Airports Authority of India (AAI), BJP leader and MP from Ahmedabad (east), Paresh Rawal, had raised the issue of lack of baggage scanning machines and manpower at the city airport. Rawal had pressed upon authorities to address the issue of long passenger queues, without compromising security.
