Six-hour flight delay leads to passengers assaulting airline staff, security personnel

Security personnel and commercial staff of SpiceJet were manhandled by some unruly passengers on Monday following a six-hour delay in the departure of Mumbai-bound flight of the airline.
As per the available information, nearly 160 passengers of Mumbai-bound flight were stranded at the airport for nearly six hours due to some technical problem encountered by the flight. The aircraft was grounded after the technical snag was noticed.
The Boeing 737 SG 611 Spice Jet flight was supposed to depart from the airport for Mumbai at around 5.50 a.m.
The passengers, who had arrived at the airport during the midnight in order to board the flight, became furious as the airline management failed to give any justification for the flight delay. The agitated passengers then manhandled the security personnel and commercial staff of the airline.
“The Central Industrial Security Force played a role of spectators, and did not stop the agitated passengers who manhandled the security personnel and commercial staff of the airline,” told an official of another airline, while speaking to the media.
