Vijayawada: Two flights were diverted and one flight delayed at the Gannavaram airport near Vijayawada on Sunday due to foggy condition, said G. Madhusudan Rao, Director of the Gannavaram airport.
He said the visibility was very poor in the morning. He explained that this was a rare phenomenon encountered at Gannavaram airport in the recent past.
However, after 10 am, all the flights landed as per schedule at the airport, Mr. Rao said.
He said that the Air India pilots could not see anything for 200 mt in front of them, hence they did not want to take the risk. He explained that there must be at least 1,500 mt visibility to land flights.
