Ukranian national jumps to death at Mumbai international airport

Mumbai: A 32-year-old seaman of a Merchant Navy ended his life by jumping the edge of the T2 terminal's parking lot level-2 at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) on Sunday. Mykhaylo Chekrygin, a Ukrainian National, took the extreme step before he was supposed to depart by Swiss flight. The Sahar police has informed the shipping company agency and also the embassy and are probing the reason behind Chekrygin ending his life.
Chekrygin, a Seamen by profession, had signed off from the ship and his passport has immigration clearance stamp of Mumbai Seaport on February 13. "Enquiries with the shipping company staff revealed that he was to depart by Swiss flight (No LX-155). He was dropped at the Airport at 9pm by the shipping company staff. But why he did not departed by said flight is not known," said Mumbai police spokesperson DCP Dhananjay Kulkarni.
