2 states in 116 minutes: Heart flown from Indore to Mumbai to save a life

Acing the battle with time and distance were a few private and government agencies to ensure that a donated heart flies from Indore to Mumbai so that a life can be saved.

With the successful implementation of an elaborate planning, a donated heart was flown from Indore to Mumbai within 116 minutes to save the life of a 22-year-old cardiac patient.
The heart was harvested from a 20-year old Indore boy who was brain-dead after suffering from severe trauma in a road accident. It was transplanted in the youth from Odisha who was admitted in the Fortis Hospital, Mumbai.
The organ was sent out from the Choitaram Hospital at 12:20 pm to reach Indore Airport at 12:43 pm. It was then moved to a waiting Jet Airways flight which departed after 12 minutes, and landed in Mumbai at 1:53 pm.
Through a special Green Corridor route the heart was sent to the hospital in an ambulance.
