AAI plans to realign Juhu airport's runway with CSIA

Though there were reports of putting the redevelopment and extension plan of the Juhu airport into cold storage; the authorities at Airport Authority of India (AAI) are believed to be finalising yet another plan to make the project possible despite of all possible constraints. If the sources are to be believed, the authorities are planning to issue tenders for inviting consultants, who can do a study of the said project before the actual work begins.
In a latest development, AAI, which operates the Juhu airport, has now decided to realign the runway and to make it parallel to the runway of the Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA). The development will help in making the operations at both the airports independent of each other.

At present, the runways at both the airports are not completely parallel to each other making it impossible to operate aircraft from Juhu airport as it may cause constraints in the smooth operations at CSIA, which is already just couple of years away from reaching its saturation point. Both the airports are just at the distance of few kilometers from each other.
