AI does a flip-flop, to fly Surtis thrice a week to Mumbai

Surat: The recently announced summer schedule of Air India (AI) has left Surti fliers high and dry again.
The Mumbai-Surat flight service, which was supposed to operate for six days a week from April, will operate for only three days from March 27. There is no announcement of the four new flights between Mumbai and Delhi, as recently agreed upon by AI chairman and managing director Ashwani Lohani.
As per the new flight schedule, AI has changed the operating time and schedule of Surat-Mumbai morning flight. Starting from March 27, the Surat-Mumbai flight will depart at 6:35am from Mumbai to arrive at Surat at 7:25am and in the return journey from Surat at 7:45am to reach Mumbai at 8:35am. The operating days have been changed to Wednesday, Friday and Sunday in a week.
Similarly, the timing for the morning flight between Surat and Delhi has been changed. On Thursday and Sunday, the flight will depart from Delhi at 5:25am to reach Surat at 7:55am and in the return journey from Surat at 8:25am to reach Delhi at 11:10am.
Last week, Surat MP Darshana Jardosh, Navsari MP C R Paatil and a couple of textile businessmen from the city had met Lohani for increased air connectivity from Surat. During the conversation, Lohani had agreed to provide four flights connecting Surat with Mumbai and Delhi in the morning and evening hours from April 2016.
