Vasco: Air passengers at Dabolim international airport on Sunday experienced a frisson of fear following two bomb scare incidents – a call and an abandoned bag. A call claimed a bomb had been placed in a Goa-bound Delhi Air India flight (AI 156) having 95 persons including 6 crew members onboard.
Sources said that in first case, Dabolim airport authorities received information of bomb being planted in a Goa-bound Delhi Air India flight (AI 156), after it left the Delhi airport in the afternoon. The call was received by the Calangute police station from an unidentified person and is believed to have been made via internet.
The Airport Authority of India immediately flashed a message to the air traffic control (ATC), which is monitored by the Indian Navy, and further it was passed on to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and local police station attached to the airport.
Soon, the anti-terrorist squad and the bomb detection and disposal squad of Goa police, besides the CISF personnel, were alerted about the situation.
