Vijayawada: Ahead of the Krishna pushkarams, the Gannavaram airport will have sixteen parking bays by the end of June. At present, there are six parking bays at the airport. The Gannavaram airport authorities are expecting that new parking bays will be used for chartered flights coming for the river jamboree.
The Ganavaram airport terminal building expansion will be completed by August this year. The authorities are also proposing a business lounge with a space of 3,000 sq. metres.
The existing terminal building will be used for international flights. The airport authorities are holding discussions with Customs and Immigration authorities for international terminal.
However, the existing facilities at the airport are not sufficient for operation of international flights from the airport.
Category VII safety standards are required for it, while the airport is equipped with category VI facilities.
