Pratt-powered Airbus planes start deliveries to IndiGo

Airbus Industrie and Pratt & Whitney on Friday announced the first deliveries of Pratt-powered A320neo planes to India’s IndiGo Airline after an engine-related delay.
The planes were to have been delivered in December, but issues with Pratt’s geared turbofan engines caused a delay.
IndiGo’s order, which was placed in 2011, is one of the largest in Pratt’s history with more than 1,000 engines ordered for 530 aircraft, including options. The contract is likely worth close to $2 billion to Pratt, based on similar agreements in the past.
It was the second positive development for the engines over the past week as Pratt’s geared turbofan engines last week powered their first A321neo test flight from Airbus’ Hamburg, Germany, plant to its headquarters in Toulouse, France
