Panaji: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Monday in a written reply informed the state legislative assembly that the future of the old airport terminal building at the Dabolim Airport, which is not in use anymore, would be decided by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
It may be recalled that the new airport terminal at Dabolim Airport started operating in March 2014, after which the old airport terminal was closed down.
“The matter about the future use of the old airport terminal is in the domain of AAI,” he stated, pointing out, “However, the state government has recommended AAI for partial demolition of the building so as to make way for parallel taxi track and allot the remaining portion of the building to various stakeholders like cargo, airline offices etc.”
Parsekar, providing a written reply to another question from the leader of the opposition Pratapsingh Rane, said that the tendering process for construction of the proposed international Greenfield airport at Mopa is in progress. “The related Request for Qualification (RFQ) process has been completed, while the Request for Proposal (RFP) was issued to the four shortlisted bidders on January 15, 2016 and the last date for submission for financial bid is May 16, 2016,” he maintained, noting that the first phase of the construction of airport is expected to be commissioned in the year 2019.
