Mumbai: RTI activist Ravi Srivastava on Sunday said that the former chairman of United Spirits had started Kingfisher Airlines only to cause financial loss of the government and tax payers.
"I can clearly remember how Vijay Mallya started Kingfisher Airlines only to cause financial loss to government and taxpayers," said Ravi Srivastava told ANI.
Srivastava further added, "I have been gathering information about this scam since 11 years. I was chief operations manager in Hindustan Petroleum."
Employees of the long-defunct Kingfisher Airlines on Saturday accused Vijay Mallya of damaging the image of the country and particularly the aviation industry in an open letter to the chairman.
The issue of non-payment of salary to staff of the long-defunct Kingfisher Airlines came back to haunt its chairman Vijay Mallya again.
The letter, which comes days after the beleaguered industrialist said that the "only regret" he has was that the carrier is not flying when the oil price has dipped so low, also accused him of having "blood"-stained hands.
