Art museum at T2 thrown open for travellers


Over 70% of the art museum which remained under wraps even after opening of T2 has now been opened at level 3. Apart from International passengers, even those flying on domestic network of airlines like Air India, Visatara and Jet airways are now getting the chance to see the art wall which has rare collections of art work from across the contemporary and ancient India.

The airport operator officials claim that the art works focus on art and culture of the bye-gone eras, including the Gond art by Mukul Goyal and team which stresses on enormous mobile, based on theme of location and flight that borrows from the repository of fantastical flying vehicles and creatures, transforming them into three dimensional mild steel forms.

Another highlight is the 20th century Palitana oil canvas painting, depicting the most sacred of Jain pilgrimage of Palitana in Gujarat. "Another artwork of conjoining lands by Nilima Sheikh and Suresh BV, conceptualises and imaginary world of symbolic landscaped which seeks Kashmiri art for inspiration, inclusion and collaboration" said an airport insider.

Other than this, artist Anjolie Menon and Robyn Beeche interpret door as face of the house by juxtaposing several portraits into unified whole are of the themes of the art wall area.
