Bareilly: Decks have finally been cleared for the construction of the civilian airport in the city with the visiting team of ministry of civil aviation giving its clearance and local administration set to acquire land from remaining 25 farmers next week.
The implementing agency, UP State Rajkiya Nirman Nigam, would soon start work related to construction of boundary wall near the area earmarked for airport, said officials.
The development comes after the visit of director, civil aviation, Devendra Swaroop, to the city on Monday where he held a series of meetings with district officials, including the district magistrate (DM) and others.
It was decided that registry of land belonging to 35 out of the 90 farmers set to be acquired for the purpose would be completed by next week. The airport is scheduled to come up over an area of around 10 hectares at a spot near village Mudiya Ahmadnagar. During his visit Swaroop was accompanied by officials of Airports Authority of India (AAI) who visited the said spot and surveyed the whole area.
