Green tea costs Rs 4 lakh at Bengaluru airport, Union Minister DV Sadanand Gowda seeks probe

Bengaluru: Price of green tea at Bengaluru airport would leave even the some of the richest person on the globe scratching their heads. One cup of herbal green tea is charged Rs 4 lakh by the authorities at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport. The exorbitant price came as a shock for Union Minister DV Sadananda Gowda, who sipped a cup of tea at the airport.
Sadanand Gowda sought a detailed probe in the matter by Karnataka Government. He also wrote to the protocol department of Kempegowda airport seeking an inquiry in the inflated bills on food items at the airport. Not only is the price of green tea hiked to Rs 4 lakh, but even the most basic of food product costs near about Rs 35,000-40,000.
At least 14 officials including deputy secretary and two under-secretaries are reportedly involved in the process of over-inflating the price of food items. Costs are raised in an arbitrary manner to maximize profits in an unreasonable manner.
