Kota airstrip widening: Raje to meet minister

Jaipur: Chief minister Vasundhara Raje will meet minister of state for civil aviation Mahesh Sharma to discuss the widening of airstrip at Kota airport. Sources informed that Centre has also called a meeting to discuss the possibilities of expansion on April 13.
A team of airport authority of India (AAI) has visited the site recently. According to officials, a consent has been given by the government of India in-principal, but there are a few issues that are still to be sorted out. "This was a long pending issue. We want to make Kota airport fully operational and for that airstrip needs to be widened. Additional land was needed for which deliberations are going on," said a senior official of the state government.
AAI is seeking 14 acres of land which the state government failed to provide. Moreover, existing airstrip has now come inside the periphery of city limits with human settlements developed around.
