Unclaimed car parked at airport creates panic

Trichy: An unclaimed hatchback car in the parking lot of Trichy International airport triggered panic among security agencies on Tuesday evening while sanitizing the area ahead of the visit of BJP national president Amit Shah to the city on Wednesday.
The car was spotted by police officials during the security drill before the visit of Amit Shah. It was found that the car was parked for more than seven days in the area and there was no one to claim it. The car bears a registration number of Karnataka. A team of bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS) of the city police was pressed into action and they thoroughly scanned the car through their devices to check if there was any explosive material. However, no explosives were found in the car.
The airport police said the car was towed and taken to the airport police station. The police also checked if there was any document relating to the ownership. The officials started verifying footages of CCTV cameras in the airport campus to identify the person who drove the car and parked here. It was yet to be ascertained when the car was parked exactly.
