7 Delhi-bound flights diverted to Ahmedabad airport

Ahmedabad: Dust storm and low visibility in Delhi on Sunday night led to seven flights including five international ones getting diverted to Ahmedabad airport.
According to the Ahmedabad airport officials, bad weather in the national capital forced diversion of seven flights to the city airport which included Hong Kong-Delhi and Jeddah-Delhi flights.
Besides five international, two domestic flights - one each of IndiGo and Air India flying from Pune to Delhi - were diverted to the Ahmedabad airport on Sunday night. All these seven flights had to wait for two-three hours before the weather cleared and the flights were able to take-off.
The airport officials claimed that weather in Delhi was really bad, and in the last one week, this is for the second time that so many flights had been diverted from Delhi at such short intervals to Ahmedabad. The officials said that flight operations to and from Delhi were back to normal after 11pm. On May 23 too, five flights including four international ones were diverted to the Ahmedabad airport following inclement weather in Delhi.
