Ahmedabad: The aviation sector in Raipur got a major boost on Thursday with inauguration of common user domestic terminal (CUDCT) at old terminal building of Swami Vivekananda airport of Raipur. The facility was inaugurated by Sanjay Jain, regional executive director, eastern region, Airports Authority of India (AAI). Subodh Kumar Singh, special secretary to chief minister, secretary (Mineral resources, Commerce & Industries) was the guest of honour for the event.
According to Sanjay Jain, AAI has taken an initiative to bring all airlines under one common user terminal at various airports in view of enhanced efficiency of cargo handling and better security compliance. As a part of this programme, CUDCT at airports such as Visakhapatanam, Manglore, Madurai, Indore, Ahmedabad and Port Blair and Bagdogra have already started operations. CUDCTs are also planned at Bhubaneswar and Ranchi. Raipur is the first airport in the eastern region to be maintained and run by Ahmedabad based GSEC Ltd.
