Air ambulance crash survivor dies

New Delhi: Patna-based businessman Virender Rai (61), the brain haemorrhage patient who miraculously survived an air ambulance crash in Delhi last month, died on June 3.

Mr. Rai had not suffered any external injury when the air ambulance crash landed in a field in Najafgarh on May 24.

But 10 days later, he lost the battle. “The doctors tried their best to save Virender, but he passed away at Medanta Hospital on the night of June 3,” his brother Bhagwan Rai told The Hindu . The family of the deceased was with him at the time of his death.

Since the crash site was close to Gurgaon, a PCR van took little time in getting him to the hospital, lesser than what it would have taken from the airport.

Though all the seven people onboard the Beech King Air C-90A plane survived the crash, albeit some with injuries, Mr. Rai’s survival was seen as nothing less than miraculous.
