Navi Mumbai: Cidco will start rehabilitation process for airport project affected persons (PAPs) from July 1 and has offered them 18-months home rent package during the rehabilitation period.
The PAPs will get Rs 12 per sq ft per month as home rent for 18 months — from July 1 to December 2017 and possession of their plots in around eight months. They will also be entitled to receive Rs 1,000 per sq ft as construction cost of their new homes at the allotted plots in Waval and Wadghar.
"The development work of the airport project is going to start very soon. Hence, the process of rehabilitating the villagers located in the core area is our priority. The affected house owners will be given possession of their plots in the next 6 to 8 months," said Mohan Ninawe, senior public relations officer, Cidco.
Once the villagers shift to their rental houses, Cidco will start the airport construction work after acquiring the land physically.
Earlier, Cidco had offered 12 months' rent, which was opposed by the villagers, as they wanted rent for 36 months but now Cidco will be paying them 18 months' rent.
There are nine villages — Kolhe, Kopar, Vaghvil Wada, Varche Ovale, Ulwe, Targhar, Kombadbhuje, Ganeshpuri and Vagvil — located in the core airport area. Cidco has promised to give the PAPs from these affected villages 3 floor space index (FSI) at the resettlement location.
