'Dogs-on-airstrip' row sparks off war of words

Aurangabad: Various departments are at loggerheads ever since airport director Alok Varshneya blamed the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel for the recent "dogs-on-airstrip" row.
On Tuesday night, a Mumbai-bound Air India flight was delayed by over an hour after the Air Traffic Controller refused to give clearance to it citing presence of dogs on the airstrip. The incident raised questions over the airport authorities' ability to handle safety and security-related issues.
The airport authorities from Aurangabad came under attack from all quarters, pushing them on the backfoot and triggering a blame game.
The war of words between the airport director and the CISF officials started on Friday evening. Varshneya blamed the CISF on the WhatsApp group 'AU Airport' stating that the latter was responsible for preventing dogs, buffaloes and pigs from entering the airport.
