FIR lodged against man for stealing NRI's luggage

Based on CCTV footage from the Ahmedabad airport, Sardarnagar police has charged a man with theft. The man identified as Mehendi Hussein is alleged to have stolen a bag containing a Rs 40,000-worth laptop, 2,300 in US dollars (approximately Rs 1.15 lakh), an American health card and driving licence from an NRI. According to Sardarnagar police, Divyakant Natarwal Shah, 50, a resident of New Jersey in the US, arrived in Ahmedabad on May 28. "He had come by Air India's international flight AI 144 around 8 pm. He could not find his luggage at terminal 2.
 He searched for it frantically for several days. Since he could not find it, he had informed Sardarnagar police station on June 6," added the police. Shah is a native of Vadodara. Cops checked the footage from CCTV cameras at terminal 2 from around the time when Shah had landed here. They zeroed in on Mehendi Hussein, who is suspected to have stolen Shah's bag. The police said that the accused was a passenger on another international flight and CCTV footage shows him walking away with the luggage. With the help of airline staff and airport authority, cops identified him.
