The recarpeting of the existing 2,250 metre of the existing runway is almost on the verge of completion and construction of the new extended runway of 655 metre is likely to be completed before September 2016, taking the total runway length to 2,905 metre.
Official sources said the first phase of runway recarpeting and extension work-which includes recarpeting of 2,250 metre and expansion of 655 metre is likely to be completed before September 2016. The second phase of recarpeting and rehabilitation of 185 metre of the existing runway is likely to start by October-end.
