Travellers’ union seeks airport advisory panel meet every month

Tiruchi: The Tiruchi-based Air, Rail, and Road Travellers’ Federation has appealed for convening the Airport Advisory Committee meeting periodically in the interest of air passengers and to redress their grievances besides taking up airport development issues.

In a memorandum addressed to committee chairman and Tiruchi Member of Parliament P. Kumar and the Airport Director, Federation president M. Sekaran said without convening periodical meetings it would be difficult to follow the issues related to the development of the airport and redress the grievances of the passengers.

The National Civil Aviation Policy had spelt out that the Airport Advisory Committees should be more broad-based and meet frequently so as to serve as an effective means for grievance redress and in achieving better facilitation for airport users.

The previous meeting of the committee was held in November last year.

Appealing to the Committee chairman and Airport Director, Mr. Sekaran said they could consider convening the meeting once a month to fulfil the aspirations of passengers; discuss about their needs and facilities as well as those relating to development of the Tiruchi international airport.
